Frequently asked questions

Which Stories can I download, and in what quality?

Any Story that is public on TikTok right now, from a full or short vm.tiktok.com link. Video Stories save as an MP4 in the best available quality; every photo of a photo Story saves as its own image, and a Story with several parts downloads each part separately. Regular videos and photo posts go in the TikTok video and photo downloader.

Do I need an account to download a TikTok Story?

No. Downloading a public Story works without a StoryHideout account, and StoryHideout never asks for your TikTok login.

Can I download a Story that has already expired?

No, there is nothing left to download after a Story expires. TikTok normally shows a Story for 24 hours, and the downloader tells you when a link no longer works. StoryHideout can't recover a Story that is gone from TikTok. If the creator kept it in a profile Highlight, the TikTok Highlights Downloader can still show it. If you follow a creator closely, StoryHideout's automatic Story Saver can monitor them and save the new Stories it detects while they are still up.

Can I download a Story from a private account?

Public Stories only. StoryHideout never asks for your TikTok login, so a Story from a private account, or one the creator deleted, can't be downloaded.

How do I save it on iPhone, Android or a computer?

On iPhone, tap Save to Photos, then Save Video or Save Image (or press and hold the Story). On Android, tap Save to device and pick where it goes. On a computer, Download Story puts it in your downloads folder. More in the guide to saving Stories.
