Frequently asked questions

Which TikTok links can I download?

Links to public videos, Stories and photo posts, including shortened vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com links. In TikTok, tap Share on the post, then Copy link. Each link gives you that one post; there is no bulk or profile download.

Tip: in any TikTok link, change tiktok.com to storyhideout.com to open it here.

Do I need an account or my TikTok login?

No. Downloading a public TikTok works without a StoryHideout account, and StoryHideout never asks for your TikTok password. Paid plans add private Vault saves, so what you keep stays available after the original is gone.

Can I download TikTok Stories here?

Yes, while the Story is still live on TikTok. Paste its link here or in the TikTok Story downloader. No link? Look the creator up by username to see their current Stories. Once a Story has expired there is nothing left to download, unless the creator kept it in a profile Highlight (use the TikTok Highlight Downloader); how to save TikTok Stories before they expire explains your options, including the automatic Story Saver.

Can I download photo posts and slideshows?

Yes. Paste the link to a public photo post and every photo appears separately, ready to download on its own. The TikTok photo downloader and the slideshow downloader cover them in more detail.

Why won't a link download?

StoryHideout only works with public posts. Posts from private accounts, deleted posts and Stories that have already expired can't be downloaded.

What quality do I get, and does it work on a phone?

Videos come as MP4 in the best available quality StoryHideout can get from TikTok for that post. It works in your phone's browser too: after you tap Save to Photos, choose Save Video or Save Image in the Share sheet.
